Meet Freddy Latham

Freddy Latham has spent her career serving students as a teacher, counsellor, mentor, and former two term Abbotsford School Trustee. Her commitment to public education is rooted in the belief that every student deserves opportunities to succeed and every decision should place students at the centre.

What I'm running for

Student success and achievement through student engagement; support the District focus on literacy and numeracy.
Safe, caring, inclusive schools where students feel welcomed and that they belong - participation builds positive school culture.
Fiscal responsibility - support calls on government to increase non-targeted K-12 funding to address critical areas of underfunding.
Support parent voice and community engagement by working together with parents and community to support student learning.
Support mental health and wellbeing resources and programs.

Why I’m Running

Public education has shaped my career and my life. As a teacher, counsellor, mentor, and former Abbotsford School Trustee, I have had the privilege of working alongside students, families, educators, and our community for many years.

I have seen firsthand the incredible potential of our students and the dedication of the people who support them every day. I also understand the important role trustees play in providing thoughtful leadership, setting strategic direction, and ensuring responsible stewardship of public resources.

I am running because I want to continue making a positive impact on the future of public education. I believe strong schools are built through collaboration, careful planning, and a commitment to putting students at the centre of every decision.

As your trustee, I will listen, work respectfully with my fellow Board members, and advocate for opportunities that help every student learn, grow, and succeed.

Empowerment Through Academics

Every year, through the Abbotsford Community Foundation, I read dozens of scholarship applications from graduating students. It’s one of the most inspiring responsibilities I have. As I move through each application, I’m struck by the determination that shines through their words — a quiet but unmistakable drive to reach their goals.

Many of these students are already entrepreneurs, running small businesses while balancing schoolwork, family responsibilities, and volunteer commitments. Others devote their time to their churches or community organizations, discovering early the value of service. All of them demonstrate academic strength, resilience, and a maturity that makes me confident they will thrive if given the opportunity to pursue post‑secondary education.

I often find myself wishing I had buckets of money to distribute, because they are all deserving. I’m grateful that the Foundation exists to support these students on behalf of so many community members who contribute. Their stories remind me that empowerment begins with recognizing potential - and giving students the chance to grow.

The election in Abbotsford is scheduled for October 17th, 2026.

Where do I vote?

Find your polling station by entering your address on the official site or check the voter information card sent to you.

Who can vote?

All residents aged 18 and over who are Canadian citizens.

What do I need to bring?

Bring a valid photo ID and proof of address to your polling station.

Can I vote if I'm away on election day?

Yes, you can apply for advance voting or vote by mail if you meet the criteria.
